![]() That's neat and necessary, since now neither health nor spell energy naturally returns over time. Not only does it heal everybody, it also restores spell energy. There's also an entirely new part of the system: if your characters possess First Aid skill, it gets applied whenever you end combat, based on how many monsters you killed and how tough they were. It was remarkably convenient just to leave town a moment and reenter and find myself fully rested. On the other hand, having used the new system, I have to say that what it loses in believability it definitely gains in convenience and gameplay simplification. Avernum's taxing Return Life spell made sense for the same reason. That's why Exile's Resurrection Balm (a high level potion which you had to have to perform the spell, which you could make or find or buy,) and high-level, high-spell-point-cost Raise Dead spell made sense. In fantasy, I always figure it helps the suspension of disbelief if you make the impossible possible, but with some effort. I don't quite like the theory behind the new resurrection system, because I always figured the difficulty of performing a resurrection under the old system made sense given the difficulty of the task. It also means you no longer need healers, people you pay to heal you. Jeff Vogel refers to this, in his note the near end of the manual, as removing the unnecessary tedium of resurrection. Walking back into town is also how you recover all health and spell points. Even if a character dies, they can be brought back to life just by walking back into town. The new resting system is very convenient. Hand over 3, then check the job board to get a quest for 5 more.Healing, Resting, and Resurrection Revamped ![]() ![]() Vahnatai Cloaks (2) and Fine Razordisks (2) - 1 each for the watch commander at Almaria (?) and for Patrick in his tower.īlack Basalt (3) (nope, never used for crafting) - Boutelli in Fort DracoĪranea Fangs (8) - Rosemary, in Almaria. I'm not sure where the file is located for Mac users but if I'm recalling a long ago discussion correctly the process is similar (in that the file is in your saved games folder). The same thing can be done for resetting A1EFtP's statistics (different save folder obviously) & probably every other SW game that has the statistic counter (I'm not sure when Jeff started including it in his games). BE AWARE THAT DOING THIS WILL ALSO DELETE YOUR REGISTRATION INFO, so make sure that you have your registration key available to unlock it again. If you remove this file from this folder (delete it or move it into another folder) it will reset everything. In the saved games folder (for windows it is in your documents library/spiderweb software/avernum 2 saved games/) there is a file in there (avernum2settings) that is displayed as a CD movie but is actually a data file. Doing the following will reset the counter/statistics for the entire game so it should really only be done if you are starting over from the beginning/starting a new game. It is possible to reset the statistic counter/medals earned. And likewise for the location numbers, the cache numbers, etc. Likewise for any other reason you might reload after completing a quest. That means that if you ever completed a quest multiple times to see what different rewards were, then reloaded, each completion is tallied. Why? It doesn't track your current save, it tracks the number of events that have ever occured since you first ran the app. Just a note that the "quests completed" statistic is unlikely to be useful to anyone. *Some of these quests do have a "limit" on what you can turn in - 50 items - but the final shipment you turn in can be as large as you want, so as long as you hold off on the last shipment, there is effectively no limit Need unlimited amount (save them all) but only until you go down the Vahnatai rapids: Is used for crafting, consider both options before turning in: Is used for alchemy, consider both options before turning in: Black Basalt (3) (nope, never used for crafting)
